Jen fell in love with the Sacred Valley and its people during a 2006 semester abroad program in Cusco through an NGO. While volunteering, attending classes, and visiting ruins, she also found a special place in her homestay family’s heart. Forever changed, she reluctantly returned to the States to complete her studies, but knew in her heart she would keep in touch and return one day. Her career began working with nonprofits in Philadelphia. She worked directly with recently arrived refugees, providing English language education. After 2 years, she transitioned into the role of Development Director of a community-based nonprofit that provided youth arts programming. In 2012, Jen shifted her career to her other passion and built her own photography business. Her company provides imagery for schools, nonprofits, and local businesses. She maintains her entrepreneurship based in NYC, serving her clients with the reliable and dedicated team she formed over the years. Jen felt compelled to grow into a new role, and thought back to the unexpected home and people she grew to love in Peru. In the Spring of 2024, she found Awamaki, and eagerly sent her resume. Jen is now beyond thankful to take up the role of Storytelling and Marketing Coordinator at Awamaki. She is excited to scale the organization’s mission and contribute to Awamaki’s efforts in supporting the financial independence of indigenous artisan weavers of the Sacred Valley.
